Tees Valley Education partners with Zarach and The Sleep Charity to tackle bed and sleep poverty
Tees Valley Education (TVEd) has joined forces with national charities Zarach and The Sleep Charity to address one of the most urgent but often hidden challenges facing children in Middlesbrough and the Tees Valley: bed and sleep poverty.
With support from the National Lottery Community Fund, this new partnership will provide both immediate help for families in need of beds and bedding, and long-term support by building expertise in schools around healthy sleep.
Middlesbrough has some of the highest rates of child poverty in the UK, with nearly 40% of children living below the poverty line. Poor or disrupted sleep is proven to impact children’s learning, health, and wellbeing. By working together, TVEd and its partners aim to remove this barrier to education and give children the best possible start.
