Tees Valley Education is a Multi-Academy Trust and sponsor, which is currently made up of five academies across Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland. We know that nationally, children from deprived backgrounds underachieve compared to their non-deprived peers. Pupil premium is funding to improve education outcomes for disadvantaged pupils in schools in England. Evidence indicates that disadvantaged children typically encounter extra challenges in reaching their full potential at school and often underperform compared to their peers. Our pupil premium funding is allocated specifically to address and close this gap as effectively as possible.
We actively breakdown those barriers to enable ALL of our children to participate in all activities and therefore achieve age related outcomes, regardless of their social and economic status or family circumstances. Pupil Premium (PP) funding represents a significant proportion of our budget and we are committed to ensuring it is spent to maximum effect. Please visit the academy websites for further information on individual academies pupil premium funding.
The 2025-26 rates for pupils eligible for free school meals, or who have been eligible in the past six years, is £1,515 per pupil for primary and £1,075 for secondary. Funding for pupils previously looked after by a local authority or other state care (PLAC) is £2,630 for both primary and secondary aged pupils. Children currently looked after (LAC) receive the same amount, but this is paid initially to the local authority rather than the school for distribution by the Virtual Head. LAC and PLAC pupils do not also attract the deprivation element of the pupil premium grant even if they are eligible. The service pupil premium will increase by £10, to £350, per pupil in the 2025-26 financial year.

Tees Valley Education is a Multi-Academy Trust, which is currently made up of five academies across Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland. The PE Sports Premium Grant is provided to our academy to fund improvements for the provision of PE and sport, to benefit primary aged pupils so they develop healthy lifestyles.
The allocation for the grant is calculated using a standardised methodology. Schools with 17 or more pupils receive £16,000 plus £10 per pupil. Schools with 16 or fewer pupils receive £1000 per pupil.
We aim to increase the amount of pupil premium children attending extra-curricular activities and offer a wider range of after school provision. In addition, we intended to further develop our outdoor facilities so that pupils can engage in sports activities independently at both break and lunch times. We will also be continuing to develop how we celebrate sporting efforts and successes.
