Back to school blues?
Cold commute to work?
Not at Tees Valley Education….
Any lingering back-to-work blues were swept away by the warming fires of curiosity ignited during a morning of learning and inspiration across all of our academies today.
We held another TVEd conference that brought together all of our colleagues to network and learn together. The celebratory atmosphere was palpable, not least because we had the privilege of applauding our CEO Katrina Morley who was recently honoured with an OBE, a recognition of her remarkable contributions to education and communities. Katrina shared this with colleagues asking them to see this as recognition of the work of the whole of Trust (referring to her OBE as ‘Our Brilliant Efforts!’)
We were also graced by the presence of Professor Stuart Kime FCCT (thanks to Evidence Based Education for lending him to us for the day!) who fanned the flames of our curiosity.
Together, we explored what it means to be ‘curious’ and how we, as educators, can nurture this in the children, families, and colleagues that we serve.
Our discussions explored the examples of pioneers and dreamers from across the Tees Valley and the North East; visionaries who dared to question, wonder, and create for the benefit of the communities they served.
Curiosity, we were reminded, is far more energising and enduring than any gym membership or New Year’s resolution. It should last a lifetime.
As educators, we hold the privilege of serving children and families. Let us carry forward curiosity in our work, striving to wonder, dream, and grow as we embark on another year of meaningful service.
